Basic information resources, accumulated and available within RENAM network: • web-sites of leading scientific and educational institutions, providing necessary navigation and information access facilities • factographic database “Scientific publications in Moldova”, containing annotations and abstracts of papers and full text of some of them • annotated catalogue of Moldova periodicals • hypertext database “Conferences, seminars, meetings and other scientific events, taking place in Moldova” CEENet, 2004

  7. Basic informational resources, accumulated and available within RENAM network: • electronic versions of some journals, published in ASM and in Universities of Moldova • methodical materials and computerized curricula, including those ready for distant education • systemized information on access to databases, generated by largest libraries and information centers of Moldova, provision of information exchange and access to information systems of scientific libraries. The Program of future RENAM network infrastructure development includes: • up-grading main network communication links using modern broadband high-speed and wireless communication technologies; • creation of own fiber optic media for data transfer, backbone in Chisinau city; • shifting of the basic highways of internodal links on new communication technologies – АТМ (155 Mbps - OC3), Gigabit Ethernet, IPv6, Internet2… • widening RENAM connections for covering new regions of the country; • involving additional educational and research bodies of Moldova in RENAM networking activities; • improvement of the existing connections and establishing new Internet access links. NATO Project “RENAM-RoEduNet networks direct link and gateway construction” (NIG 978385) The project of communication bridge was devoted to the creation of new direct, reliable and effective bi-directional connection link between two neighbour NRENs: • RENAM:Research and Educational Networking Association of Moldova and • RoEduNet:Romanian Education Network These two networks represent national networking infrastructures, which are opened for all Universities, colleges, schools, scientific institutions and cover all the territory of two neighbour countries.
