  6. Pearls LBH had a lack of awareness of the harm caused by CAUTI’s from providers and nurses. There was no communication between the providers, nursing department, and infection control department on how we as clinical providers have the potential to cause harm to our patients. After meeting with the clinicians, director of nursing, CEO, and CFO regarding our chances of causing continual harm thereby increasing healthcare cost through length of stay resulting from harm, ears begin to open. After the support was established the new policy was created followed by numerous inservices to staff which have now removed the mindset that we do not cause harm but that we must prevent the harm that we can cause. Currently we are 6 months free of CAUTI’s and look forward to 1 year! Contributions • Education to Staff • Nurses encouraged to call other facilities prior to patient’s arrival to have cath removed if present (So far we have had two removed before arrival). • New policy enforced to require physicians to address an indication and nurses to follow- up daily.
