Great Songun Idea andSongun Politics The present situation when peace and security of the world are horribly destroyed and the independence of the sovereign countries is mercilessly violated due to the ever-intensifying aggression and war moves of the US-led imperialists urgently demands the study and embodiment of the Songun politics, a treasured sword and banner of the independence cause, pursued by leader Kim Jong Il in order to safeguard the world’s peace and security and advance the independence cause of humankind. The Pyongyang Mission of the AINDF compiled this edition “The Great Songun Idea and Songun Politics (Synopsis of Songun)”, on the signal occasion of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Down-with Imperialism Union by great President Kim Il Sung (Oct. 17, 1926) and the 46th anniversary of great Marshal Kim Jong Il’s start of the Songun revolutionary leadership on August 25, Juche 49(1960). The Songun politics authored by leader Kim Jong Il is a patriotic politics which guarantees independence, peace, reunification and prosperity of the nation. Foundation of Songun Idea by President Kim Il Sung and His Songun Revolutionary Leadership Leader Kim Jong Il said that during the whole course of leading the revolution and construction since he inherited the two pistols from his father and held up the banner of the Down-with Imperialism Union (DIU) in his early years great leader Kim Il Sung had consistently held fast to the idea of giving precedence to the army and military affaires and always paid primary attention to the strengthening of the military power.
