  4. Where does this come from? • Where does 5√2 come from? • Let’s assume we want to find c if a and b = 5. • Pythagorean Theorem: a2+b2=c2 • 52 + 52 = c2 • 25 + 25 = c2 • 50 = c2 • C = √50

  5. Example #1 6 45° • What type of triangle is it? • 45-45-90 • What do we know? Hyp = Leg x √2 C = a√2 Leg (a) = 6 • Find out: C = 6√2 • What if we knew c and wanted to find the legs? 6 C 45°

  6. 3 Example #2 60° B C • What type of triangle is it? 30-60-90 • What do we know? C = 2a B = a√3 a = 3 • Find out: C = 2(3) = 6 B = 3√3 • What if you only knew that c = 6. How would you find a and b? 30°

What do I do now? • If you were not here Friday, work on the 30-60-90 Independent Practice first, then check your 45-45-90 IP. • If you didn’t finish one of the Independent Practices, finish it now. • If you finished both, check your work, making sure you didn’t write answers as decimals. • If you finish all of this, get the bonus sheet from the front of the room and work on it • ALL WORK WILL BE HANDED IN AT THE END OF CLASS AND WILL BE GRADED FOR ACCURACY!!!
