  1. ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION Orthographic projection is a method of producing a number of separate two-dimensional inter-related views which are mutually at right angle to each other. Orthographic projection is based on : a. two principal planes - horizontal (HP) & vertical (VP) b. an auxiliary intersect each other forming right angles & quadrants. Two forms of orthographic projection: a. first-angle orthographic projection b. third-angle orthographic projection Three principal views in orthographic projection: a. Elevation (front elevation) b. Plan c. End view (side view, side elevation)

  3. First-angle Projection An object is placed in the space of the first-angle quadrant between two planes. The view projected on the VP is called ELEVATION. The view projected on the HP is called PLAN. The view projected on the AVP is called END VIEW.
