  2. 1.Big Question My big question is: If you cut one or two apples in 10 pieces and put hot sauce, vinegar, pickle juice, and lemon juice each on two slices and leave two plain, which one will last the longest and which one will go bad first?

  3. 2. Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the vinegar will last longest and the plain will go bad first because when you are eating an apple it usually goes bad quickly so my guess is it will be the first to go bad.

  4. 3. Steps • 1. Cut one or two apples into ten pieces on a plate. • 2. Put one teaspoon of hot sauce on two slices of the apple. • 3. Put one teaspoon of pickle juice on two slices of the apple. • 4. Put one teaspoon of lemon juice on two slices of the apple. • 5. Put one teaspoon of vinegar on two slices of the apple. • 6. Leave 2 slices of apple plain. • 7. Put two of each kind on a plate. • 8. Label and put the plates in the sun. • 9. Leave then there and see which one goes bad first and which one lasts the longest.

  5. 4. Materials • Paper/plastic plates • Hot sauce • Vinegar • Pickle juice • Apples • Knife

  6. 4. Data • The first one to go bad was the vinegar. Next the plain went bad. After that the pickle juice went bad. Then the hot sauce went bad. The one that lasted the longest was the lemon juice.

  9. 5. Analyze the data My experiment tested my hypothesis by watching the apples and seeing which would go bad first and which lasted the longest. I can tell by the brownness on the apple and the edges.

  10. 6. Conclusion No, my hypothesis wasn’t correct because my hypothesis was that the plain would go bad first, but the vinegar really went bad first. I also said that the vinegar would last the longest, but really the lemon juice lasted the longest . In my experiment I would change the things I put on the apples because I would like to see which one would last the longest and which one would go bad first. Some questions I have is how would the lemon juice taste on the apple and could people use it regularly when they cook. Would it affect the food they are making?
