WOW • The body contains 100 TRILLIONcells • Cells are on average are less than 1000th of an inch in length • There are about 1 MILLION cells in every square inch of our skin • There are about 30 BILLIONcells in our brains • Some 40,000 red blood cells would fit in the letter “O” • All the DNA in an adult if tied end-to-end would reach the sun and back (186 million miles) 400 times 400x186 million=7.44e+10

NO WAY… • Hair • eyelashes warn the eyes to close • body hairs squeeze oil glands • nose and ear hairs filter • Bone • when they break they immediately begin to repair themselves • A cube of bone 1 sq. inch in surface will bear w/o being crushed 4 TONS (ounce for ounce bone is stronger than steel, but 10 times more flexible)

REALLY??? • Skin • skin area the size of a quarter= 1 yd. of blood vessels, 4 yds. of nerves, 25 nerve ends, 100 sweat glands, and more than 3,000,000 cells • upper layers are dead and constantly being replaced • hands and feet are friction surfaces for gripping • little hair…touch=emotion • Muscles • 28 muscles in the face allow humans to make ¼ of a million expressions • Only humans can smile…

HMMM… • Digestive System • incisors, canines, premolars, and molars… • Tongue: sense organ, manipulates food, fashions food, assists in swallowing, and tastes (9,000+ taste buds) • swallowing is a highly orchestrated arrangement of muscles…how’d man not die while evolving??? • Why doesn’t the stomach digest itself??? • small intestines are 20-25 feet long when uncoiled • multiple other organs help in digestion (liver, gall bladder, and pancreas) by providing digestive juices

WHOA… • Circulatory System • heart weighs only 11 ounces, but is the strongest muscle in the body • heart beats 70-80 times per minute • can beat 150-180 times per minute (automatically regulates) • blood rushes where it needs to go>>> • eating…rushes to the stomach • exercising…to lungs • reading…to the brain • Heart beats 100,000 times per day, 40,000,000 time per year; it pumps 1,800 gallons of blood a day!!!

Think about it… AMAZING!!! • Nervous System • regulates all the other organs (liver, kidneys, muscles, etc…) • monitors the senses (seeing, hearing, feeling, etc…) • controls thinking, learning, and memory • Nerve receptors • 3 to 4 million structures in the skin sensitive to pain • ½ million touch detectors • 200,000 temperature gauges • Info. transmitted to the brain at speeds of 300 mph!!!

Think about it… AMAZING!!! • Nervous System • It would take 500 miles (Atlanta to Norfolk, VA) of book shelves to store the info. the brain is capable of storing • SENSORY ORGANS • -Eyes: light enters at 186,000 mph, images picked up by 137 million nerve endings, the eye handles 1.5 million simultaneous messages, and gathers 80% of all the knowledge absorbed by the brain…

Think about it… AMAZING!!! • SENSORY ORGANS • Ears • 25,000 audio receptors • 30,000 nerve fibers • Brain receives sound vibrations up to 25,000 per second • Brain interprets as voice, thunder, music, etc… • The inner ear, no bigger than a hazelnut contains as many circuits as a good sized city’s telephone system…

  12. This isn’t even all…What about… • The Respiratory System • The Excretory System • The Endocrine System • The Reproductive System

  14. The spiritual is SUPREME… Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

  15. The spiritual is SUPREME… II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

The BIGGEST decision of all…Its got a DESIGN • Hear…Romans 10:17—for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God • Believe…John 8:24—if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins • Repent…Luke 13:3—but unless you repent you will all likewise perish • Confess…Matthew 10:32-33—whoever confessesMe before men, him I will confess before My Father who is in heaven… • Be baptized…Mark 16:16—he who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
