Vision and Plans for Hydrologic Services in the Southern Region

This update by Dave Reed of HIC outlines the personnel and progress of the Southern Region's hydrologic services team, established in Spring 2001. The goal is to develop a comprehensive vision, leading to an initial draft by late 2001 and a final version delivered in early 2002. The plan prioritizes improvements in current services, incorporates new science and technology, and fosters a well-trained workforce.   3. Brief History • Team formed in Spring 2001 • Goal – develop vision for hydrologic services for Southern Region • Initial Draft – Late in calendar year 2001 • Final Draft – Provided to SRH in early 2002

The Plan • Improve and enhance existing products and services. • Infuse new science and new technology into hydrologic operations. • Develop new products and services based on customer feedback. • Develop a better trained and better informed workforce. • Restructure the NWS Hydrologic Services Program.
