Buddhism originated about 3000 years ago with the birth of Buddha, who sought to end human suffering. He identified suffering in four forms: birth, sickness, aging, and death. After attaining enlightenment, he dedicated his life to teaching others how to escape this suffering. Central to Buddhist practice are the Three Jewels: Buddha (the Awakened One), Dharma (the teachings), and Sangha (the spiritual community). These elements guide individuals on their path toward enlightenment and liberation from suffering.
