1. Ways to create a new sketch. (Draw a simple shape fully defined) Firstly, once you open up the solid works part you move your cursor to the upper left area and click on the button that says sketch.

2. Afterwards you then come to a screen like this. One you have sketch button selected then you select a surface to draw the sketch on.

3. To fully confine a shape you must make it enclosed. (for your sanity!) Now you select one of the sketch options.

4. There are two ways to cully constrain a sketch 1. Creating a simple triangular “anchor” will prove effective in fully confining the object. You can do this by making two lines off the axis, and then adding smart dimensions to all of the lines + object you made. Also between the circle mid-point and the line not directly connected to the circle.

5. (the easy way out) 2. The other and much easier way/the way that will probably bite you in the butt later. All you have to do for this way is to select the shape and then hit the fix button at the left hand side of the screen.
