Oil Spills. By: Zora and Kate. Gulf of Mexico. This BP oil spill is also called Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It was “the largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry”, and is also continuing to effect the world today.

Gulf of Mexico • This BP oil spill is also called Deepwater Horizon oil spill. • It was “the largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry”, and is also continuing to effect the world today. • People are starting to mine for oil again and experts say it may soon reach the levels it was before. • However, during the time 11 people died and 17 got injured.
Amoco Cadiz • On March 16 1978, the Amoco Cadiz spill happened because of a failure of steering • The whole shipment, 1,619,048 barrels of oil, spilled into the sea. • 100,000 tons were collected from the sea.
Jupiter • September 16, 1990, the tank : Jupiter was loading gasoline at a industry on the Saginaw River. A fire started on board and it exploded.
Megaborg • The Megaborg released its cargo 5.1 million gallons of oil because of a fire in Texas on June 9th, 1990.
Ixtoc I • The well, Ixtoc I, blew up on June 3, 1979 in the Bay of Campeche off Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. • The well was controlled again March, 1980, and about 140 million gallons of oil had spilled. The Ixtoc I spill is now the second largest oil spill ever.
Arabian Gulf • In the 1991 Gulf War, oil terminals were destroyed and about 8 million barrels of oil spilled into the sea.
Barge Bouchard 155 • August 10 1993, three ships crashed and Tampa Bay, Florida and about 336,000 gallons of oil spilled.
Barge Cibro Savannah • The Cibro Savannah exploded and caught on fire in March 1990. Nobody knows how much oil was released into the sea.
Summary Oil spills have a negative effect on everything, including animals. That is why we should be careful and support everyone when they occur.
