  1. Physical Properties Metals, non-metals, metalloids

  2. In class 9-11-12 • Obj. I am expected to compare metals, non-metals, and metalloids using their physical properties such as luster, conductivity, and malleability. • Vocabulary • Luster • Malleability • Conductivity • Magnetism • Ductile • Metals • Non-metals • Metalloids

  3. @home • Study your vocabulary words daily

  4. Luster • the way it reflects light or shines

  5. malleability • The ability to be hammered in to a thin sheet or into most shapes.

  6. conductivity • How well it allows heat and electricity to pass through it

  7. ductile • Can be stretched or rolled into a wire

  8. magnetism • Being attracted or not attracted to a magnet.

  9. metals • A substance that is shiny, malleable, hard, and a good conductor of heat and electricity.

  10. Non metals • A substance that is brittle, not malleable, may be a gas, and a poor conductor of heat and electricity.

  11. Metalloid • An element that share properties of metals and non metals, they are semi-conductors.
