The British Isles • Europe is the second smallest continent in the world • Sometimes Europe and Asia are looked at together as a large region called Eurasia • Eurasia is the world’s largest landmass • Thousands of islands lie in the waters around Europe • The largest and most important island in Europe is Great Britain

The British Isles • The United Kingdom of Great Britain is actually a collection of several smaller countries- England, Scotland, Wales, and North Ireland • England is called the “mother country” of the United States, Canada, Australia, and several other countries • Colonists from England travelled around the world to establish new homes • The biblical heritage of Great Britain was the most important gift that the British colonists brought to America
