  3. Constructing Socialism USSR China Both the USSR and China undertook attempts to build socialism in their countries

  4. Marxism Both the USSR and China got their inspiration for communism from the ideals of Karl Marx

  5. Feminism USSR China Both the USSR and China undertook feminism as part of their communist regime. Both of these pictures are of women being mobilized for work

  6. Famine Famine in USSR, which caused 5 million deaths Famine in China, which caused 20 million deaths Both the USSR and China experienced huge famines, largely due to the Communist Party’s inability to correctly implement their ideals

  7. Industrialization Factory in the USSR Factory in China The USSR and China both undertook massive industrialization in order to combat their country’s backwardness

  8. Environment Due to the massive industrialization undertaken by both countries, the USSR and China experienced substantial environmental harm; as represented by these smoke stacks spewing pollution into the air
