  2. Definition of Cirrhosis • Cirrhosis is a disease that attacks the liver. It damages normal liver cells and they are replaced by scar tissue.

  3. Causes • Cirrhosis is caused by two main things. One of them can happen as fast as a few days – a few months, while the other one could take years.1) Hepatitis 2) extensive alcohol consumption

  4. Diagnosis • A physical test may reveal cirrhosis in a patient because in early stages the liver is firm and enlarged. • In later stages imaging tests show scarring of the liver as well as ascites.

  5. History • Cirrhosis is closely related to liver cancer, therefore dating the exact year when associated differently change due to where you look.

  6. Symptoms of Cirrhosis. Constipation • Diarrhea • Dull abdominal pain • Fatigue • Indigestion • Nausea • Vomiting • Weight loss

  7. Continued… • Anemia • Bleeding gums • Decreased interest in sex • Fever • Tremors • Musty breath

  8. Treatment • No treatment will cure Cirrhosis due to the scarring in the liver that has already taken place. But some treatment could delay further liver damage. Such as: • Stop alcohol consumption • A low-sodium diet

  9. Treatment continued • Get immunized against Hepatitis A and B, along with influenza and pneumococcus.
