  4. where are possible workplaces • Medical imaging techs work for hospitals, private clinics, doctors’ offices, and government and public health agencies. • The work can be physically demanding. Techs spend a lot of the day standing, and must help patients on and off examining tables. • X-ray techs may be exposed to radiation, but the amount is carefully monitored. Safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or operating equipment from behind a leaded barrier or in another room, help minimize the risk of exposure.

  11. what type of college classes must you take • If you want to be a medical imaging tech you need to complete a post-secondary training program. Programs are offered through colleges, technical institutes, and hospitals. They take 1 to 4 years to complete and can result in a certificate, an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree. Most techs complete a 2-year associate degree program

  12. what does the career involve (what do you actually do on this job) • Prepare patients for tests and operate different types of equipment to produce images • There are several areas of specialization • X-ray techs use radioactive equipment • MRI techs operate machines that use radio waves
