  3. Use paragraphs!! • Each new set of ideas or happenings should start a new paragraph. • Miss a line to start a new paragraph! Sam walked quickly into the room. He spotted the huge, black beast in the corner and stared at it not knowing what to do. The beast did not move for several seconds until finally neither Sam nor the beast could wait any longer. The beast lunged for the door trying to escape from Sam when.....

  4. Use complex sentences! These are too simple! Don’talways use these.... • Sam walked to the door. • Sam opened the door. • Sam stood still. • He saw the beast. Tryusing more of these... Sam walked to the door and opened it carefully. Sam stood still when he saw the beast until they could stand it no longer!

  5. Check your punctuation!!! • Make sure that ALL sentences start with a capital letterand end with a full stop. • Use ??? and !!! • Use “speech marks” when people are speaking. • Use capital letters for Proper Nouns... • Australia • Mrs. • Fountain Street

  6. i before e except after c Spelling!! • Think about your spelling. • Use letter patterns that you have learned in class. • If it doesn’t look like it’s spelt correctly, try it a different way. • Think of where you may have seen or used that word before.

  7. Most of all..... MAKE SURE YOUR STORY MAKES SENSE!!! Read it back to yourself and think... ‘Does this make sense??’
