Join us for key updates in our CMS community. Celebrate a momentous occasion as we throw a party for our 100-year-old mother-in-law, and prepare for CMS Week next week. Don’t miss the spokesperson election on Wednesday! We are facing an authorship challenge affecting US collaborators, and we need your feedback on a potential solution. Additionally, updates on technical operations include the detection of previously missing components at UCLA, and important milestones in our cabling and electronics projects.

From USCMS Chair (Nick H) • Dear US CMS CB Members:As you know, the US funding agencies refuse to pay M&O A for those US collaborators supported by the project. This means that the people in this category lose their authorship rights by CMS rule. The CMS CB Chair, Ian Shipsey, (plus a committee) is trying to find fixes that won't require the "solution" outlined below. However, Ian asked if I would poll the US CMS CB to get a sense of your views of this solution which is currently used by a number of other countries on CMS. • Question. • •Would be willing to give up authorship for some fraction of papers (say 10%) so that those supported by the Project could be authors. • •If you volunteer for this, you would still be an author on papers you request to be on. All papers deemed “important” have an all inclusive author list. • •Please check with the members of CMS at your institution and send me the sense of the group.
