  6. Preparing a Slide of Onion Tissue (1) Place a drop of water on a glass slide. (2) Place thin layer of onion tissue on the slide. (3) Add a drop of iodine onto tissue to staincells (cell wall and nucleus). (4) Place a cover-slip on top of onion tissue at an angle.

  7. Using the Microscope (1) Place the slide on the stage of the microscope. (2) Use the low power objective lens (4X). (3) Use the coarse focus wheel to bring cells into focus. (4) Then use fine focus wheel to sharpen the image. (5) Move up to the medium power objective lens (10X), but use fine focus wheel only to bring cells into focus. (6) Observe and draw onion cells.
