TOWER’S FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS RECREATED TOWER PCGs AND BLOCK TESTS Established a data bank of 600 questions Formulated classroom environment based on practical application DEVELOPED STATIC LAB FOR TRAINEES Self-help project for classroom Lesson plans for the static lab To include 50 New scenarios for Tower static lab Progressive in nature Highlight special attention areas ( opposite direction, VFR transitions, etc)

RAPCON’S FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS RECREATED RAPCON’S PCGs AND BLOCK TESTS DEVELOPED AF From 797 FOR RAPCON ORDERED $19K DOLLARS OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT FOR ATCTD 4 New Computers for AOF WEB 6 Dedicated computers for ATCTD FRONT LOADED PROGRAM Incorporates simulators and task certification Identifies substandard performance prior to IFR Room Allows trainees to start in any position not just CD/FD

  8. The Final Product • Two controllers assigned as GCG Instructors • SSgt Angela Dowling • TSgt Randy Godwin • Front loaded training program put into effect 30 Aug 99.

  13. Conclusions • New Front loaded program works • Dedicated “Instructor” controller involvement works • Entire facility had “buy-in” on program • Key to the success • Hold Controllers and trainees accountable • We can wash out trainees in the GCG process
