  5. Abstract • Description of our Remote Lab in the Dept of Electrical Engineering: • It duplicates all features of a real lab • It gives tutorials on the design of an integrated differential amplifier • Upon signup it randomly assigns the amplifier design specifications (from a set of specs) • When the student submits the design it checks whether specs are met

  6. Abstract (cont’d) • It “wires up” circuit based on prebuilt circuit and based on resistor insertion using relays • It allows student to make circuit measurements using remote controlled function generators and oscilloscope • It compares student measurements against specs • It verifies student measurements by LabView controlled automatic measurements • It provides final evaluation (by comparing predicted, student measured, auto-test values against specs • It determines final experiment grade

  28. Summary Remote Lab Diff Amp Design Project • Transition from Real Lab to Remote Lab • Differential Amplifier Design Problem • From Specs to Circuit Design • Real Lab • Remote Lab Implementation • Specs > Design > Circuit > Measurement • Automatic Measurement > Evaluation • Demo

  29. Next Step • Resolve LabView Problems with transportability • Increase Number of Remote Test Stations • Each experiment should have remote station • Initial use only at San Jose State • Collaboration with other universities • Obtain funding (NSF Grants?) • Expand Remote Lab for Remote Training • Expand Remote Lab to Pre-College clients
