  2. Invention Of the Slot Machine • Invented in 1895 • Was called the Liberty Belle • Biggest payoff was 50 cents • Slot machines are considered valuable antiques • Has 3 spinning reels

  3. What Happens on the Inside • First you put in your coin and pull the handle • Inside a cam on the handle begins to rotate. It releases stoppers spinning the reels. 1 2

  4. What Happens on the Inside • Then the reels spin and they eventually stop by having a small piece of equipment(a stopper) go into a crevice on the reel stopping it. • A sign appears on the screen to the player and they receive their payoff if necessary. 4 3

  5. What the player can see • What the player can see is that they put in their coin and pull the handle • The reels spin and land on signs • You receive your payoff if necessary 1 2 3

  6. How You Win! • Getting a jackpot is extremely uncommon. The chances are one out of 643 • You win by getting three or more(a four reeled slot machine) signs in a row.

  7. How You Get Your Money • A shutter goes underneath the money stack so if the player wins, the shutter moves out of the way thus letting the money fall to the player. Shutter Shutter

  8. “The House” • You want to play at a slot machine away from the cameras so that “the house” or casino staff cannot mess with the machine. This is only if you are doing well though. • Slot machines are one of the most easily “tampered” with games by “the house”

  9. How a Modern Slot Machine Works • Modern slot machines work with a computer chip. • The computer chip makes a number. The number is divided by 12, 24, or 32 or a number like that. The remainder is how many times the reels spins until it stops.
