  2. All binary acids are named this way: • the prefix "hydro" is used. • the root of the anion is used. • the suffix "ic" is used. • the word "acid" is used as the second word in the name. • ex. HCl is hydrochloricacid.

  3. Name these binary acids: HF HBr H2S

  4. Many acids involve polyatomic acids. If you don’t know the polyatomic ions, you’re sunk.

  5. If "ite" is the suffix, change it to "ous" • Add the word “acid”. • ex. • NO2-1 is nitrite • HNO2is nitrousacid

  6. Name these acids: H2SO3 H3PO3

  7. If the ending is "ate" , change it to "ic“ ex. ClO3-1is chlorate HClO3 is chloricacid

  8. Name these acids: H2C2O4 H2SO4 H3PO4 HC2H3O2 HMnO4

  9. Name the following acids: 1) H2CrO4 2) H2CO3 3) HI 4) HF

  10. Write the formula for these acids: 1) hydrobromic acid 2) nitric acid 3) chloric acid 4) dichromic acid
