  3. Spelling & Punctuation • Good Writing Means: • Words are spelled correctly • Sentences are constructed intelligently • Punctuation is used consciously • The writer cares about the message

  4. Time to be Informal • Chat speak is fine for: • Your friends • Your mom • Your social accounts

  5. Time to be Formal • Formal communication is expected: • At work • With potential employers • With Colleagues • In any professional setting • If you’re unsure, be formal

  6. Make a Positive Impression • Proofread your work • Double check your spelling • Use, but don’t rely on spell check • Ask someone else to read your work • Rewrite • Be inspiring
