  2. Summary of Chapter 33: • Fogg is almost at London! He is about to make his deadline on around the world! He is on The Henrietta, a boat governed by Captain Speedy. They are almost out of coal to run the boat, so Fogg buys the boat from Speedy for $60,000. Once they get to London, Fix arrests Fogg!

  3. Summary of Chapter 34: Fix arrest Phileas Fogg because Fix thinks that Fogg was the bank robber. They hop on a train to London, and Fix takes Fogg to the custom house to be put in jail. Passapartout and Aouda stay right outside to wait on him. They find out that the robber was caught a few days ago, and they let Fogg out of jail. Fogg punches Fix! They rush to London, but they’re late!

  4. Modes of Transportation • Fogg, Passapartout, and Aouda are sailing on a boat, The Henrietta, in the Atlantic Ocean. The trio rode a train to get to London.

  5. CULTURAL NUANCES • Fogg offers Speedy $60,000 for the boat. “An American can scarcely remain unmoved at the sight of $60,000.” It criticizes Americans about how they’re greedy. Speedy also tells Fogg he is a little “Yankee.”

Important Character Actions • Fogg: • He buys the boat from Captain Speedy for $60,000, and orders the crew to burn it. • He gets arrested. • He punches Fix! • He “lost” the bet. • Captain Speedy: • He lets Fogg buy the Henrietta for $60,000 and he throws a fit of rage. • Fix: • Fix arrests Fogg, because he thinks he’s the robber.

  7. Important Obstacles in Plot • The boat doesn’t have enough coal to get to London, so they burn it! • Fogg is arrested by Fix. • Fogg “lost” the bet, because of the delay of the arrest.

  8. Plants and Animals There were no plants or animals in our chapter.

  9. Time, Place, Setting They’re sailing from New York to Liverpool, on December 12th-December 21st. This shows Liverpool, the place that Fogg, Passapartout, and Aouda are heading.

  10. Clothing/ Possessions/ Food Fogg bought a boat named the Henrietta from a man named Speedy. =

  11. Amount of Money Spent Fogg offered Speedy $60,000 for his boat, so now Fogg has $60,000 less.
