FIXED RADIOLOGICAL X-RAY PM • Introduction • Preventive maintenance consists of procedures that minimize equipment failures • A conscientiously conducted visual inspection frequently reveals potential malfunctions before they cause equipment failure • Preventive maintenance is most effective when it is performed according to a schedule • Generator Maintenance • Semi-annual inspection • Conduct a thorough visual and hands-on inspection of the generator and accessories • Inspect unit for damage, excessive rust to critical parts, bearing tracks and races etc. and excessively worn components • Inspect • All electrical cables • Cords • Connectors • And fittings for tightness

FIXED RADIOLOGICAL X-RAY PM • Check for breaks in insulation, abrasions and other damage to cables and connectors • Thoroughly inspect all high voltage cables and their connections to the x-ray tubes and high voltage transformer • Ensure all connections are firmly seated and that there are no signs of arcing • Examine the high voltage transformer for indications of oil leakage • Examine all exterior painted surfaces for corrosion and ensure all name plates and warning labels are present, legible and securely mounted • Test all front panel controls and meters for proper operation and replace any burnt out lamps • Annual Inspection • Perform the semi-annual Inspection and ensure that the main circuit breaker is turned off • Disconnect the high voltage cables from the high voltage transformer and x-ray tubes • Clean the terminals and repack the x-ray tube ends with dielectric silicone grease • Repack the transformer ends with dielectric oil until it spills over • Check the oil level in the high voltage transformer and add dielectric oil to within 1 inch of the top cover (if necessary)

FIXED RADIOLOGICAL X-RAY PM • Table Maintenance (Semi-Annual) • Check all nuts and bolts, screws, rivets and other fasteners for tightness, tighten and replace as necessary • Inspect all electrical cables, cords, connectors and fittings for tightness • Check for breaks in the insulation, abrasions and other damage to cables and connectors • Examine all exterior painted or plated surfaces for evidence of deterioration, chipping and corrosion • Ensure all name plates and warning labels are present, legible and securely mounted • Counterweight cables should be inspected no less than every six months • Cable failures can cause serious injuries to patients and operators • Worn or damaged cables cannot be repaired • Inspect cables for evidence of rust or corrosion • Examine both ends of cables for evidence of kinking • Inspect for broken strands by running a soft cloth or towel along the entire length of both cables including attachment points.

FIXED RADIOLOGICAL X-RAY PM • Broken Strands are Evident if the Cloth Snags at Any Location Along the Cable • Cables must be immediately replaced if there is any evidence of broken or frayed strands, kinks, corrosion or weakness in any mechanical fitting • If the table has motion capabilities an operational check out should be performed IAW manufacturer's literature • All raceways and bearings should be lubricated every six months using a light grade of machine oil such as WD-40

FIXED RADIOLOGICAL X-RAY PM • Tubestand Maintenance (Semi-Annual) • Perform a general inspection of entire assembly noting any worn or damaged parts • The exterior of the tubestand should be wiped down with a mild soapy solution and clean, dry cloths to get rid of dust and foreign materials • Check all hardware for adequate tightness and adjust or replace as necessary • Power should be applied to the tubestand and each function should be checked IAW manufacturer's literature • All travel features should be checked for smooth operation and proper movement • All locking and/or braking mechanisms should be checked for proper operation • Inspect all pulleys and repack with lubricant • All bearings and bearing raceways should be inspected and lubricated using a light grade of machine oil such as WD-40 • Inspect all cables for fraying, corrosion and excessive wear, replace as necessary
