  1. Washington D.C. May 2009

  2. Monday • Flew from Amarillo to Denver, Colorado • Stepped off the plane in Denver and IMMEDIATELY boarded our plane to Baltimore, Maryland • Took a taxi to Washington D.C. • Checked into the Melrose Hotel

  3. Tuesday • Took our 1st ride on the subway, which is called the Metro in DC • The station name was Foggy Bottom • Newseum • Museum of News • Did an interactive news broadcast • National Archives • Viewed the: • Declaration of Independence • Bill of Rights • Constitution • Also viewed the basketball shoes Shaquille O’Neil gave President Bush- size 22

Tuesday Continued • Ford’s Theatre • Watched a short play between General Lee and General Grant the day after Lee surrendered to Grant • The Peterson House where Lincoln Died • Ate at Old Ebbitt’s Grill • The Smithsonian Holocaust Museum • Back to the hotel to rest • Dinner with Dan at Filamena’s Italian • Got to the hotel and went straight to bed

Wednesday • My Dad was “On the Hill” for meetings • The Smithsonian Air & Space Museum • Fighter Jet Simulator Ride • IMAX movie called “Up and Away” • The Smithsonian Natural History Museum • IMAX 3D “Under the Sea” • The Hope Diamond • The Smithsonian American History Museum- West Side • George Washington’s 1st Monument • The 1st Ladies Hall • Shopping and Dinner in Georgetown

Thursday • Met Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and took pictures in her Senate Office • Toured the Senate side of the Capitol • Heard a Senator from Kansas debate on moving the detainees from Guantanamo to Leavenworth, Kansas and his opposition to this • Metro from Union Station to a bus for Mt. Vernon • Toured Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s Home • Then bus to metro to Arlington Cemetery • Changing of the Guards • Saw the Pentagon from a distance • Viewed the Kennedy gravesites

  7. Thursday Continued • ESPN Zone for games and dinner • Took a taxi to tour the Monuments at Night • Zane, the cab driver from Egypt told 3 jokes • Girl in the accident • Tomatos • Bee pee • Jefferson Memorial • Roosevelt Memorial • Lincoln Memorial • Vietnam Wall Memorial • Korean War Memorial

  8. Friday • Walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House • White House Tour • Visit the Supreme Court • Visit with Representative Mac Thornberry • Capitol Tour on the House Side • Thomas Jefferson stepping on John Adams foot • Paintings in the Rotunda

  9. Friday Continued • Visit the Library of Congress • Dinner with Dan • Baseball game between Washington Nationals & Philadelphia Phillies

Saturday • Took pictures at the front of the Capitol • Walked down Pennsylvania Avenue • Old Postal Building • Took the elevator to the Tower to View DC • Saw the bells they used to ring for Congress • Took pictures at the front of the White House • The Smithsonian American History Museum- East Side • Wing on the Wars • Wing on the change of automotives • Took the metro one last time back to the Hotel • Taxi to Baltimore, Maryland • Flew to Little Rock, Arkansas, then to Dallas, then to Amarillo
