  3. Forms • Medical Consent / Behavior Agreement form • This was mailed to the individual home. • I have extras for those who have not done it.

  4. Non-School Sponsored Field Trip Permission Form • THIS IS A NON-KLEIN ISD TRIP. • This trip is sponsored by School Tours of America and tour directors.

  5. June 12 4:00 am • Time we are meeting at the Sears parking lot at the corner of Louetta and Kuykendahl. • Please do not be late; bus leaves at 4:10am • Airport Security Reminders

  6. Luggage • No checked baggage- we all need to have carry ons. • Please have toiletries in a Ziploc Bag and travel size. • Swimsuits- no two pieces. Swimming is not guaranteed. Cover up in the hotel. • Closed athletic shoes are highly encouraged- we will be walking A LOT. Stray away from flip flops while we are on the bus, hotel is fine.

  7. Luggage (con’t) • Please pack appropriately and not over pack. • Souvenirs can get bulky and be under estimated- plan accordingly. • Get with roommates and plan; collaborate on if you can use someone’s stuff ( like hairdryer).

  8. Cell Phones • All students are required to text or call their parents – EVERYDAY • Phones need to be put up during the tour, as we are touring the guide will be explaining things. On the bus the driver will be giving you some history of what we are about to see and the importance, please keep phones away. Your parents pay good money for you to experience DC not to be on your phone.

  9. Buddy System • ALL students will have to have a buddy or buddies while touring. • If a student is touring on their own they get to spend the rest of the trip with a chaperone buddy- and we are pretty cool. Make sure you use your time wisely. • Use a watch- cell phones can go dead • We are on such a time crunch and being late for a meeting time can result in us missing an appointment. Lateness can result in a chaperone buddy.

  10. Hotel • The Hotel room is your room for 3 nights. Any damage done to the room is the responsibility of all those that are in the room. • No students are allowed in another students room. (Security reasons) • The lobby or hallway can be used as a place to socialize. ( There will be other guest in the hotel and maybe our hallway- be considerate)

  11. Hotel ( con’t) • All students are in their room at 10:00 pm- lights/TV out by midnight. • There is a grocery store and CVS by the hotel in the event of an emergency arises and we need to get supplies. • Do not open your door once you are in for the night- 10:00

  12. Touring • Try to avoid bringing backpacks on the tour. Most places we visit will have security screenings and it may delay some of our touring. • We will visit a number of memorials and high profile areas – please be respectful. • If it calls for no picture taking please do not take a picture. • Your parents paid good money – please don’t waste it by texting on your phone and sitting down the majority of the time. • We will WALK A LOT- socks and shoes • Safety—DO NOT TALK TO STRANGERS

  13. Bus • The bus should have water and drinks. The driver usually sales them for $1. • There will be assigned seats on the bus.

  14. Behavior and dress • It will be warm and we will be outside for a number of sites- please dress comfortable and appropriate. SOCKS AND SHOES. (Keep it KLEIN KLEAN) • If at any time a student is being disrespectful during the tour toward anybody in the group or intentionally causing someone to have a bad time then they can end up with a chaperone buddy for the remainder of the trip. • Phone calls from tour director will be made if we foresee a problem arise.

  15. Behavior and Dress (con’t) • This will get you sent home at Parents Cost. • Breaking any law- stealing, assault, etc. • Drugs, tobacco or alcohol. • Physical damage to property • Consistent disrespect toward adults or students

  16. Medication • Each child is responsible for their own medication. • If a situation arises and the tour director needs to be made aware of a medical situation please see your tour director privately. • We will carry Ibuprofen or Advil but will not distribute unless we have conformation from a parent via phone call.

  17. What to Bring • Small umbrella • Phone charger • Earplugs • Souvenir money • Bus drink money • Watch • Medication ( if applicable) • Camera NOTE: Remember YOU are responsible for everything you bring---or LOSE---Be mindful while packing valuables

  18. Group Travel Videos- App • School Tours of America will make a DVD of pictures taken by the group while on tour for free, we just supply the pictures. • This is voluntary and is not required. • All pictures must be appropriate and no pictures from inside hotel rooms.

  19. $5 • The five dollars is for the tip we give the guide at Gettysburg and our bus driver/tour guide.

  20. Important Information • Flight • June 12 United #817 @7:09am • Arrive DC National 11:19 am • June 15 United # 1212 @ 7:24 pm • Arrive in Houston IAH 9:43pm • Bus will drop students back off at the Sears parking lot – students will call; please be there as the bus arrives
