Welcome to the 8th-grade geometry curriculum! This outlines our grading system where daily grades contribute 20% and test grades 80% of the total grade. Homework is vital for success and will be assigned regularly. Quizzes and projects will also play a key role in assessment, with a strict late policy for projects. Class attendance is crucial, and make-up work is only permitted for excused absences. Additional resources, including laptop usage guidelines and tips, are provided to support your student’s learning journey. For questions, reach out to Anna Wright at awright@auburnschools.org.

Grading Scale A – 90 – 100B – 80 – 89C – 70 - 79D – 60 - 69F - 59 or below
How are students graded? Daily Grades- 20% of total grade • Homework- will be assigned most nights and will be checked for a weekly homework grade. Homework is vital to being successful in learning mathematics. • Quizzes - will be given on a regular basis. • Projects will count as 2 quiz grades. Ten points will be deducted for each day the project is turned in late. • Classwork- Any work completed in class that is graded. Student must keep up with notes and bellwork to be turned in
Grading system Test Grades- 80% of total grade • Tests will be given at the end of each chapter. • Students will be given a study guide the day before each chapter test. • Exams are at the end of each semester, December 19th-20th, then on May 21st- 22nd. • Exams count as two test grades. • We will review the content covered a few days prior to the semester exam.
Attendance • Students are expected to attend class daily. Class time is valuable and instruction cannot be made up if it is missed. I encourage students to come to class everyday, if they are absent they are missing something in my class. Make-up work can only be done for excused absences.
Make-up Work • Students with excused absences must request make-up work upon arrival back to school then missed assignments must be turned in within 5 days of their return. • It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with the instructor for any make-up work. • *No make-up work for UNEXCUSED absences.
Geometry Curriculum • More challenging than ever, students must spend time outside of class preparing for Algebra class. • Since this is an advanced class student expectations are set at a higher level and students must be determined meet these expectations.
