  1. Infection: Midpoint Presented by RPS Studios

  2. Design • Infection: a game with intent to educate the player on the war that happens within the body every day in order to keep us healthy • The idea for an RTS game fit our goal • Educate but be FUN

  3. Concept Drawings • Designing units that were real, original and intriguing • A long meeting was conducted for various designs • How many units should be available for each side? What should they be?

  4. The IDC: Eosinophil

  5. The IDC: B Cell

  6. The IDC: Macrophage

  7. The Infection: Bacillus A

  8. The Infection: Bacillus B

  9. The Infection: Bacillus C

  10. From Concept to Model • The models for the final units are now made. • One of the units for the bacteria was finalized for production • The reality of the unit balanced with the need to make it an interesting unit will ultimately determine the end product

  11. Building an RTS Engine • Things unique to RTS design • Gameplay elements that exist in an RTS that don't exist in other games • Stuff every RTS MUST have

  12. Engine Features • Features we chose to implement • Features that we did not implement • Why we made certain tradeoffs • Relative difficulty of certain implementations

  13. Engine Inspirations • Inspirations behind game play aspects • Starcraft for UI+controls • C&C for large unit diversity and comical nature of the game • Engine concerns for the final project

  14. Moving a unit • Path finding: Needed system for intelligent movement • Choice was between optimal or easier “dumber” unit movement • Needed to be flexible

  15. Implementation • Decided Dijkstra’s algorithm for movement • Created for expansion with implementation of the UI • Future revision includes handling collision when moving

  16. Selection and Sound • Attempted to use collisions • Then tried using math • Challenge: Making it work with 2d cursors • Sound is an important part of the final experience. We hope to utilized that well

  17. Future Plans? • Animation of the map itself is an ambition (based on user’s performance in game) • Keep it Fun and Real

  18. RPS Studios • RPS Presentation by: • Keshan Harris • Ivan Morozov • Jason Pastewski • Varun Kaushal • Thank You. Are there any Questions?
