Nursing Research Question Contest Results NTX winner of the Nursing Research Question contest was Elsy John, MSN, RN, CMSRN, Medical Telemetry Lead Charge Nurse, and her question was: “Is it beneficial or harmful to keep patients fasting for 24 hours before a procedure?” CTX winner of the Nursing Research Question contest was Donna Welborn from Round Rock and her question was: “Would a comprehensive, team-approached discharge teaching program integrated early into the care plan for admitted non-ICU cardiac patients, with a correlating phone follow-up within 10 days of discharge, result in 1. reduced mortality rates, 2. reduced 30-day readmissions, and 3. increased patient satisfaction scores?”

We also thank all who joined in the fun and contributed to this event which raised almost $300.00. Pictured below are some of the attendees and wonderful paintings they finished.

  9. Announcements Coming Soon: 5th Annual Endowed Nursing Research Fund Call for Abstracts. Because there will both a NTX and a CTX winner, nurses from across the entire system are encouraged to develop nursing research project abstracts and submit for consideration of a $1,000 award. Nursing Research Education We are excited to bring the world of Nursing Research to all nurses and healthcare professionals in our system by launching our Nursing Research modules. There are 9 quick and fun lessons each explaining the different components of the nursing research process, as well as providing some great resources for all nurses interested in learning more about how you might start your own nursing research project! You will find the modules on BHCSCLIP.org, select “Categories,” and filter for “Nursing Research.” The modules are also live on the main nursing page on myBaylorScottAndWhite.com under Nursing Research Modules.
