  5. Math Mrs. Meredith & Mrs. Brittain Multiplication Facts Multiplication quizzes every Friday We encourage parents to help with homework. We are available for homework help Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. Think Through Math (see PAWS folder for login info.)

  6. Reading & Social Studies Mrs. Powers & Ms. Parrish • Students must read at home (reading log:100+ min.) • We are working on . . . • Comprehension • Accuracy • Fluency • Completing 5+ books this year • Geography & History of Texas • Field trip to Austin in the spring

  7. Writing & Science Mrs. McBee & Mrs. Robinson Narrative & Expository Compositions Grammar Skills Revising/Editing Lab Experiments (once weekly) Science lessons correspond with weekly lab

  9. PAWS Folder (Take Home Folder) • Students bring this home every night. • Check the front pocket for important notes. • Send notes for the teachers in the front pocket. • Graded papers go home each Wednesday.

  10. Homework • When will homework be assigned? • A packet will go home on Friday and is due the next Friday. This will include math, reading, language, the reading log, and the math facts log. • What are your child’s homework responsibilities? • We expect homework to be neat and completely finished by the given due date. • If help is needed, visit the appropriate teacher from 7:30-8:00 Monday-Thursday. • What happens if a student does not complete the homework? • The student will go to study hall during recess to complete the assignments.

  12. STAAR Testing Tests are in March and April this year. • Writing (2 days) • Revising/Editing • Narrative Composition • Expository Composition • Math • Reading

  13. Parent-Teacher Conferences • Conferences will begin the last week of September and continue until the end of October. • Sign up tonight in your child’s homeroom.
