  2. Contact Information Email: All of our email addresses are on the newsletter each week. Phone: 254-761-5755 Conference Days: Thursday & Friday Conference Time: 8:10am – 9:10am We are here every day until 4:00. Email is the best way to contact us. We will respond within 24 hours.

  3. In the Classroom Departmentalized Classrooms Centers/Hands-On Activities (few paper activities) Small Groups Community Supplies (scissors, glue, map pencils, markers) Computer lab as needed Library each Tuesday

  4. Math Mrs. Meredith & Mrs. Brittain Multiplication Facts We encourage parents to help with homework. Think Through Math (see PAWS folder for login info.)

  5. Reading & Social Studies Mrs. Powers & Ms. Parrish • Students must read at home (reading log) • We are working on . . . • Comprehension • Accuracy • Fluency • Geography & History of Texas • Field trip to Austin in the spring

  6. Writing & Science Mrs. McBee & Mrs. Robinson Narrative & Expository Compositions Grammar Skills Revising/Editing Lab Experiments (once weekly) In-class lessons correspond with weekly lab

  7. PAWS Folder (Take Home Folder) • Students bring this home every night. • Check the front pocket for important notes. • Send notes for the teachers in the front pocket. • Behavior calendar should be signed each Thursday. • Graded papers go home each Thursday.

  8. Homework • When will homework be assigned? • A packet will go home on Friday and is due the next Friday. This will include math, reading, language, and the reading log. • What are your child’s homework responsibilities? • We expect homework to be neat and completely finished by the given due date. • What happens if a student does not complete the homework? • The student will go to study hall during recess to complete the assignments.

  10. STAAR Testing All tests are in April this year. • Writing (2 days) • Revising/Editing • Narrative Composition • Expository Composition • Math • Reading

  11. Parent-Teacher Conferences • Conferences will begin the last week of September and continue until the end of October. • Sign up tonight in your child’s homeroom.

  12. Field Trips • Children’s Symphony (October 24) • Cost is $1 (You may pay tonight if you wish.) • MHS Pep Rally (October 25) • Austin Field Trip (May 2014) • Woodgate Intermediate Tour (May 2014)
