Vision Statement Holbrook Jr. High School will shape the students’ futures by creating a secure learning environment which maximizes their creative, intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. What is the Purpose of PBIS? The purpose of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports System is to increase desired behaviors school-wide.

  2. PBIS • Keeps staff and students attention focused on desired behaviors • Is a bridge to long term rewards • Increases likelihood of repeating the desired behavior • Fosters a positive school climate • Reduces the need for engaging in time consuming disciplinary measures

Traditional Discipline vs. PBIS Positive Behavior Intervention Support •Replaces undesired behavior with a new behavior or skill • Alters environments •Teaches appropriate skills • Rewards appropriate behavior Traditional Discipline • Focused on the student’s problem behavior •Goal is to stop undesirable behavior through the use of punishment
