  2. August 19 2013 • Beowulf gives the lineage of both Beowulf and Grendel. The Geats and the Danes of the 6th century believed parentage and ancestry established your place in the world. Create a genealogical chart such as the one in the back of your copy of Beowulf for yourself. • Choose either to go back in time charting your ancestors-parents, grandparents, great aunts and uncles, etc. • Or • Choose to imagine the lineage you will create in the future. Begin with yourself and create a dynasty in the future!

  3. 20 August 2013 • The Geats and the Danes valued the lineage of kings and warriors. How have values changed in respect to the place of fathers in modern times? • Do you believe fathers should provide a reputation and standing for their offspring?

  4. 21 August 2013 • Grendel represents the Devil. Do you have any sympathy for him?

  5. 22 August 2013Imagine Herot, the great mead hall as the Central Gwinnett High School commons with Beowulf laying in wait for Grendel. Write an account of the death of Grendel in the commons.
