  10. Goals of a USPHS attachment to the Navy PDSS activity • Look for opportunities to provide broader public health interactions during the mission. • Offer the community health focus to the PDSS process as a contributing public health expert.

Public Health CONOPS 11-30 Jul 2010 Morotai SMEE and Field Training Ternate Ternate: 12 prevmed team members will fly to Ternate on 10 Jul from Jakarta and conduct; SMEE Muhammidayah University Basic epidemiology, biostatistics, water, sanitation, vector control, food safety classroom training (at MPH level) SMEE at Ananda Hospital Classroom training for public health technicians in water quality and analysis, sanitation, vector control, disease management, disease surveillance and food safety Outreach for water, sanitation, vector control, parasitological lab management at Gambesi Puskesmas at Sio Village at Kampulang Puskesmas At Mare Island (Tidore district) Sofifi Outreach at community center Outreach Galala Clinic Ambon/Banda SMEE and Field Training

Where We Are Now • Public Health part of mission planning and implementation • Connected to public health officials and able to work as a unique integrative unit • Focus on long term health impacts and opportunities • Planning allows for public health integration in other mission sectors • Engineering works beyond construction and repair, includes water and sanitation for public health impact • Acknowledgement of public health ties between Preventive Medicine and Veterinarians.
