National Panhellenic Conference • Officially formed in 1988, but Greek life women had been gathering as early as 1891 • 26 NPC affiliated chapters • Manual of Information (MOI) • Unanimous Agreements • UA 4 Standards of Ethical Conduct • UA 6 College Panhellenic Association Agreement (Recruitment Process) • UA 10 NPC Members are women-only organizations • To join NPC, an organization must have been established for 13 years and have 14 established chapters (2 years or more on a campus) • NPCwomen.org

  3. Why NPC? • Fraternity is a social experience based on the fundamental right of a free people to form voluntary associations. It is one of the enrichments of college life. • Purpose of NPC • to assist collegiate and alumnae chapters • cooperate with colleges and universities • foster interfraternal relationships. • Fraternities exist because they: • Provide a good democratic social experience. • Give value beyond college years. • Create, through their ideals, an ever-widening circle of service beyond the membership. • Develop the individual’s potential through leadership opportunities and group effort. • Fill the need of belonging

NPC vs. KU PHA • NPC is the national council which guides all of the NPC panhellenic councils • KU’s Panhellenic Council and Executive Board must follow the UAs, but the rest of the MOI is for our interpretation. • We are the liaison for KU Panhellenic Association (Community) to National Panhellenic Council (NPC) • For the most part, NPC guides, they do not instruct (with the exception of UAs)

Panhellenic Council is all 13 delegates, our executive board, and the advisor Panhellenic Executive Board are the nine women you elect to facilitate and coordinate Panhellenic-wide events as well as regulate all Panhellenic Association rules and regulations. • kupanhellenic.org
