History • Originally the Richmond division of William and Meryand later in 1967 joined with the Medical College of Virginia, founded in 1838, and became the separate entity of Virginia Commonwealth University. ("Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)") • Some of the most popular majors include Biology and Psychology. ("Virginia Commonwealth University - VCU - SAT Scores, Costs and Admissions Data")

Campus Life • They admit a freshman class of around 3,700each year. • Has Dorms and on campus food places as well as their being places to rent and many restaurants around Richmond. • VCU is the home of the Rams and 15 other intercollegiate sports teams.   4. Important Information • The average GPA of students admitted is around 3.45 with SAT scores having lows ranging from around 500 per each of the three categories to 600. ("Virginia Commonwealth University - VCU - SAT Scores, Costs and Admissions Data") • The application deadline is January 1st. • Around 80% of students receive financial aid.("Virginia Commonwealth University")

  5. Interesting Facts • 33 of VCU’s graduate and First-Professional Programs are ranked among highest in the nation. ("VCU News Center") • Occupies 211buildings: 40built prior to 1900and 54 designated as historic or lying within a historic district. • Thirteen schools and one college having: 64bachelor’s degree programs, 71master’s degree programs, 41doctoral degree programs, 3first-professional degree programs and 41 post-baccalaureate and post-master’s certificate programs.("VCU Office of the Provost") • The director and actor Stephen Furst is an alumni of VCU.

  6. Conclusion • While VCU doesn’t specialize in the field that I wish to major in, it’s still a very good University and would provide me with the education I need to get a job. I’d also enjoy staying in Richmond during my semesters there because it’s a nice city and it’s closer to my hometown.
