  3. Asia Pacific Partnership Task Forces • Aluminum • Building and Appliances • Cement • Cleaner Use of Fossil Energy • Coal Mining • Power Generation and Transmission • Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation • Steel

  4. Power Generation and Transmission Task Force • Identify and Assess Opportunities for Actions to Develop and Deploy Power Generation, Transmission and Demand Side Management Technologies that Address Development and Climate Concerns • Facilitate Demonstration and Deployment of Practices, Technologies and Process to Improve Efficiency of Power Production and Transmission

  5. Project Update • AEP Led Effort October/November 2006 (100 engineers) • Japanese Peer Review Project April 2007 (50 plus engineers—six from US) • Hydroelectric Efficiency Enhancement Project August 2007 (China, India, Japan, US) • India Peer Review October 2007 (TBD)

  6. Projects Under Development • Peer Reviews of Coal Fired Generation in China, US, and others • Transmission & Distribution Project • Demand Side Management with Focus on India • Wind Power Project • Renewable Energy (Later)

  7. Lessons Learned • International Protocols and Country Cultures are Important • Time is Required to Develop Country Contacts and Identify Decision Makers • Frameworks Have to be Developed and Exercised to Encourage Participation • Project Substance is Important • EEI Member Participation is Critical
