  2. Background • Born: Genoa (Italy) in 1451. • He began his career on the seas in the Portuguese merchant marine. • Dad was a Genoese woolworker. • Experiences: a lot of time on sea died a “disappointed” man 4 excursions across the Atlantic Ocean.

  3. Places Traveled. • August 3, 1492 set sail in 3 small ships with 120 men made a fort called Villa De Navidad(Hispaniola) • (1493-1496) went to the Caribbean Island • (1498-1500; 1502-1504) explored the coast of Central and South America

  4. Additional Notes. • Christopher Columbus showed great accomplishment to visit other lands b\c of it’s beauty. • He glorify himself to his people. • No weapons were made. • Fort Villa De Navidad was destroyed in 1493.
