  2. The Cell Theory • All living things are composed of cells. • Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things. • All cells are produced from other cells.

  3. 1590This father and son team are given credit for inventing the first compound microscope.

  4. Hans and Zacharias Janssen • Zhacharias most likely had help from his father Hans. • Could magnify 3 to 9 times (maybe up to 10x) • Would be more than 50 years before the microscope was used by scientists.
