The Holocaust was a period of systematic persecution and genocide of Jews and other minority groups during World War II, orchestrated by Nazi Germany. It began with discriminatory laws such as the Nuremberg Laws of 1935, which stripped Jews of their rights. The violent pogrom known as Kristallnacht marked a significant escalation in anti-Jewish violence. Concentration and extermination camps were established to implement the Nazis' Final Solution, resulting in the loss of six million Jewish lives and countless others.
