Woodland Heights • The mission of Woodland Heights Elementary is to provide a safe, positive learning environment which nurtures all children in their pursuit of academic excellence, emotional, physical, and social growth with the support and cooperation of students, parents, staff, and the community.

  4. Our Class • The mission of Mrs. Kennett’s class is to come to school each day prepared and ready to learn. We will always try our best and put great effort into our work to help us reach our maximum potential. We will complete our classwork, homework, and participate in learning centers to help us. We will have fun and be super listeners while we are learning. We will respect each other and follow all classroom rules.

  5. Assessment Cycles • Quizzes & Tests – in class based on progress of class and topic. • Projects – due dates and extended projects • Baseline – beginning of the year • Benchmarks – 2 times during the year, math and reading • BOG-Beginning of year assessment to identify growth • EOG – end of year

  6. Report Cards • Come home 4 times per year • Grading scale: • 93 - 100 A • 84 – 92 B • 77 – 84 C • 70 - 76 D • <70 F Please discuss grades with your child. As you will notice the grading scale may be different than when you went to school or have come from another state.

  7. Conferences • AS NECESSARY! • Typically 1 time in the Fall and 1 time in the Spring. • Whenever you or I need or want to! Please feel free to contact me at any time. Communication is key to your child’s success. If you have an issue, address it right away. Don’t let it fester.

  8. Homework Policy • Mrs. Kennett’s Homework Page • Accelerated Reader • Goal Setting and grade • AR Agreement • Words Their Way- spelling • Word Work & Daily 5 • Mobymax– Primarily for practice but serves an assessment and remediation process as well.

  9. Communication • Newsletter • Email • Weekly Folder • Notes from home – this has been going beautifully. Note: do NOT send notes in the Weekly Folder.
