  2. John 4:24 • “God is Spirit” Luke 24:39 • “a spirit does not have flesh and bones” Man has always tried to make gods for himself that are according to his OWN liking!

  3. Idols Made to Resemble Mankind God Forbade Israelites to make images of any kind! Exodus 20:3,4 Romans 1:18-25 “changed the glory of God into an image made like corruptible man…”

  4. Remember what happened at Sinai? • Exodus 32:4 ”this is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt.”

  5. Weaknesses Common to Man Attributed to False Gods • Lying, Jealousy, Envy, Adultery, Greed & such like • No doubt glorified & idealized characters, yet realistic pictures of Germanic warriors of the period • Gods created to suit man’s own desires!

  6. Men Are Still Doing The Same Thing Today! • Tend to make God conform to our own likes and dislikes • Psalm 50:21 “You thought that I was altogether like you.”

  7. Try To Measure God By Ourselves! • Slackness in His Promises – • 2 Peter 3:3,4 • 2 Peter 3:9 • God is NOT like MAN when it comes to Keeping Promises! • HE means what He says, & Says what He means!

  8. Try To Measure God By Ourselves! • Deceitfulness & Ability to Be Deceived- • 2 Timothy 3:13 “evil men” deceive • Malachi 1:14 “cursed by the deceiver” • Adam & Eve Deceived & Tried to Deceive God • Cain tried to hide sin by lying

  9. Try To Measure God By Ourselves! Galatians 6:7 NKJV 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. • Proverbs 15:3 NKJV 3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.

  10. Try To Measure God By Ourselves! Be Bribed into Good Humor- • Isaiah 1:11 NKJV 11 "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs or goats.”

  11. Try To Measure God By Ourselves! To Think that Sin is Not Really So Bad- • Psalm 5:4 “You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You.” • Luke 16:15 “what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.”

  12. Instead of Trying to Make Gods to Suit Ourselves, We Must be Conformed to the Image of the True & Living God • Colossians 3:5-11

  13. God is Not Like Man • Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV 8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
