  1. Adaptations By: Brianna Sewell

  2. What is Adaptation??? • Adaptation is when an animal has to change how it lives or how it is depending on it’s habitat.

  3. Examples of Adaptation • Daily changes in conditions like light, temperature or moisture in the air can affect the animals and plants behavior. They can adapt to live with these daily changes: • Most flowers open their petals during the day for pollination and close them at night for protection. • Some animals avoid predators and work at night (nocturnal animals) • Beaches changes every time the tide goes in and out. This affects the type and distribution of organisms (living/non living things)

  4. Polar Bears • The Polar Bear has adapted to the freezing cold weather they have in the Artic. The Polar Bear has these qualities that have helped them adapt to the Artic. • They have a round shape that gives the minimum possible surface area to reduce heat loss from them. • A thick layer of fat that helps insulations and food storage. • They also have a thick and hairy coat which keeps the body heat in • A white coat to blend into the surroundings • Big Feet to spread it’s weight on the snow or ice.

  5. Camels • The camel has special Features which make it great for living in hot and dry climates. • It can store a lot of water and can drink up to 20 gallons at once. • It loses very little water in Excretion or sweat. • It can cope with big changes to the temperature or weather • Big feet to spread the weight on the soft sand. • A sandy color that is camouflage to the sand.

  6. Thank you!  •  I am sad I have to stop but anyways hope you enjoyed it and see you next time.

  7. Cactus • A catus has to have certain things to live with 25mm of rain a year: • No leaves to reduce water loss • Small surface area for size to keep from losing water • It can store water in its thick stem for droughts. • Spines to stop animals from eating it. • Shallow but very long roots so that water can be taken in quickly over a large area.
