  2. Personality • Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. • The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: • One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. • The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole.

  3. Elements of Personality • Experience • Conscientiousness • Extraversion • Agreeableness • Neuroticism

  4. Experience • Experience refers to a person's accepted level of imagination and includes multiple experiences like appreciating art, experiencing various emotions and taking up adventurous ideas. Someone who is inventive and curious is likely to have a more active intellectual thought process and different ways of dealing with a situation or problem.

  5. Conscientiousness • Conscientiousness is the personality trait of being careful, or diligent. Conscientiousness implies a desire to do a task well, and to take obligations to others seriously. Conscientious people tend to be efficient and organized as opposed to easy-going and disorderly. 

  6. Extraversion Extraversion is the state of primarily obtaining gratification from outside oneself. Extraverts tend to enjoy human interactions and to be enthusiastic, talkative, assertive, and gregarious.

  7. Agreeableness Agreeableness is a personality trait. A person with this trait can be described as cooperative, polite, kind, and friendly.

  8. Neuroticism • Individuals who score high on neuroticism are more likely than average to be moody and to experience such feelings as anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, depressed mood, and loneliness.

  9. Importance of Personality development • Personality development prepares an individual and helps him make a mark of his/her own. • Personality development goes a long way in reducing stress and conflicts. • Personality development helps you develop a positive attitude in life. • Personality development helps an individual to inculcate positive qualities like punctuality, flexible attitude, willingness to learn, friendly nature, eagerness to help others and so on.
