  1. 2013-2014 Master Schedule Collection Webinar April 16 and 17, 2013

Changes Coming for 2013-2014 • The SEDF collection, currently done by CTE, will be absorbed by the MSC • New elements will be added throughout the collection • A new record type will be added to the collection • The CTE State Funding Model will pull all data from the EOY MSC instead of the SEDF • FALL MSC will be used to verify OSHA requirements

C Record Changes • Semester • When the course is being taught during the school year (first semester, second semester, full year, summer school) • Minutes per course • The number of minutes that the course is taught • This replaces several elements on SEDF (number of period minutes, numbers of weeks, etc.) • Divisions will be responsible for translating the time from the virtual/Dual Enrollment environment to seat environment • Will be required for CTE courses; optional for all other courses • Five new filler fields will be added to the end of the record

  4. C Record Changes • Attributes could be added to the SCED in the C Record • Attributes are demographics about the course that vary from offering to offering • Currently being discussed at the federal level • There will be a multi-year phase-in • Will be optional for Fall and EOY 2013-2014 • Possible elements: • Targeted Program • NCAA Eligibility • STEM course • FCS (Family and Consumer Sciences) Flag

  5. D and E Records • D Record • Three new filler fields will be added to the end of the record • E Record • There will be no changes to the E Record

  6. F and G Record Changes • F Record • CTE Coop flag • Is the section a CTE co-op class? (Yes or No) • Three filler fields added to the end of the record • G Record • Three filler fields added to the end of the record

  7. I Record Addition • I Record • This record will be a linking record in order to link two sections together for CTE purposes • Example: Carpentry II and Carpentry III are taught in the same period by the same teacher, so they need to be linked together

  8. I Record Elements • Record Type • Constant I • Serving Division • Serving School • Section ID • The highest level of the section • If the class is not sequenced, use the section with the most students • Connected Section ID • The lowest level of the section • If the class is not sequenced, use the section with the least students

  9. How to Report More Than Two Classes • If you have more than two combined sections going on during the same class period, you would report each of the lower classes linked to the highest level class

  10. Parallel Reporting • Parallel reporting (reporting both the SEDF and the I Record in the Fall MSC) is being discussed • Pros: • Gives divisions a year to make sure their data is accurate in the MSC based upon what is submitted using the old SEDF model • Cons: • Required reporting the information to two different collections • No deadlines can be missed on the reporting • Thoughts?

  11. When? • The layout should be finalized by May 1st • Changes will take place starting with the Fall 2013-2014 IPAL-MSC collection • All elements will be reported on both the Fall and EOY collections • NO slippage of deadlines • HUGE financial impact on missed deadlines!
