Lab Safety Notes Room 36 8th Grade Science
1. READ ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN A LAB!!!!!!!!!!
2. You MUST WEAR GOGGLES when using glassware, heat, or chemicals.
3. You May NOT WEAR: open-toed shoes, loose fitting sleeves, or bulky outerwear.
Be responsible & mature in the lab.(1) No goofing around(2) Listen & pay attention - do what the teacher is telling you to do.(3) Read & follow procedure steps(4) Be serious and focused to prevent accidents.
4. The EYE WASHES are located between stations 3 & 4and between 14 & 15.
5. If a chemical splashes in the eyes, you MUST rinse for TWENTY minutes at the eye wash station.
6. If a chemical spills on your skin, wash it off first with just water. Then tell the teacher!!
8. The fire extinguishers are located BY THE 2 EXIT DOORS at the front of the room.
9. Use a broom(brush) and dustpan to pick up broken glass. NEVER use your bare hands.
10. After you finish a lab, Clean & dry all equipment & work area and wash your hands.
