American Revolution

The American Revolution began due to bad taxes and a desire for freedom from British rule. Patriots actively resisted British authority, exemplified by Boston citizens who prevented the unloading of ships. The Declaration of Independence, crafted by influential figures including Thomas Jefferson, was signed on July 4, 1776, marking a pivotal moment in history. George Washington led the Patriot army to victory at the Battle of Yorktown, crucially shaping the new nation. Post-war, many Loyalists relocated to Canada, establishing new communities.
