Element of the day • 79 – Gold – Au • All of the gold ever mined by the human race could fit in a cube 60 feet per edge, and would be worth a few trillion dollars – which is actually less than all of the money in circulation. • Gold is a great conductor of electricity and does not corrode, making it perfect for electronic contacts. Recycling electronics to reclaim this gold is a big business. • Gold, since it doesn’t tarnish, will stay shiny forever.
